At the end of this article I’m offering The Muppet Show Seasons 1-3 DVD’s using affiliate links. If you buy it from my link, I’ll finally be able to get that operation. The board game Operation, that is.

I’m a Muppet nerd. Like, big time.

Growing up during Sesame Street’s glory days was sublime. Losing Jim Henson during that period was a blow felt by even his youngest fans.

I was only 7 when he passed away at the age of 53, but I knew who he was. I also had a sense of the footprint his creative genius left on the world.

It was a sad day.

We didn’t have YouTube back then, so I was an adult before I came across this touching video from Jim’s memorial service, which Life magazine described as “an epic and almost unbearably moving event.”

In this 15 minute clip, Muppeteers Dave Goelz, Frank Oz, Kevin Clash, Steve Whitmire, Jerry Nelson, and Richard Hunt perform a 10 song medley of Jim’s favorite songs.

From silly and whimsical to somber and sentimental, the Muppet Performers weave together a stunning tribute to Jim’s commitment to artistic excellence, his legendary creative vision, and a life filled love, humor, and friendship.

I pull out this video every now and then when I’m in a funky mood and want to “feel all the feels.” It never disappoints.
